Livius was the little Swedish Warmblood stallion with the big gaits and a big heart. Kate bought Livius' mother (along with Livius, in utero) in 1984 and imported her from Sweden into the United States. When Livius was one month past his third birthday, he became the youngest stallion approved in the US by the Swedish Warmblood Association. Kate was Livius' rider until her pregnancy made it impossible for her to sit the trot. At that point she asked her good friend, Carey Radtke (shown in the above pictures) to take Livius to Florida for the season. Livius showed up through 2nd level, winning many awards including the SWANA All Breeds Awards in Dressage.
Sadly, Livius is no more, but we have had his sons competing successfully in our barn. His daughter, Zephyr, is a brood mare that has produced many fine foals, and now his granddaughter, Gitana, is his mirror image.
